La Nuit des musées 2008

" The Night of Museums " was created in 2005 by the French Ministry for Culture and Communication. In 2007, it brought an estimated 1.3 million visitors to 956 museums in France and 960 museums in 41 other European countries.
The fourth edition of " The Night of Museums " will take off on Saturday 17 May 2008 in France and Europe.

Vlaminck a Fauvist Instinct

This exhibition brings together works of the period 1900-1915, from Maurice de Vlaminck’s (1876-1958) earliest known paintings - Vlaminck’s career started when he was 17, but none of his juvenalia has been preserved - in which he already asserted his characteristic violence, down to the works produced at the beginning of the First World War, which reflect his contemporary research on the rendering of space.

Marie-Antoinette

The figure of Marie Antoinette has always set tongues wagging: the ‘Austrian’ who loved lavish pleasures was also the ‘victim’ of the ceremonial of
Versailles or again a ‘scatterbrained’ girl gorging macaroons. But what do we know about the historical character?
This is the aim of the exhibition which traces the exceptional destiny of one of the last queens of France, from Schönbrunn to the Conciergerie.

Lovis Corinth (1858-1925)

To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Lovis Corinth, the Musée d'Orsay is presenting the work of this original artist, famous in Germany but still little known in France.

Design contre design - Grand Palais Paris

Since the sixties and the post-modern impact of the eighties, the word ‘design’ has been in trouble. Prey to individual interpretations and long banned from institutional language in France, the word has undergone such inflation that it has become synonymous with “well drawn” or even “trendy”.
